We have this awesome counter in the kitchen that my brother made for us. It has 2 shelves below it and the shelves are the perfect height to store the cereal boxes and other boxed pantry items. When my brother was going to make it, I asked him if he could put doors on the shelves below, but to save space and weight, he decided not to. He told me that we would not need them.
My brother does not have any children.
